Introduction to Tasigna 150mg Capsule

Tasigna 150 mg Capsule contains the active ingredient nilotinib and belongs to a class of medicines called tyrosine kinase inhibitors. It is used to treat Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (Ph+ CML), a type of blood cancer in which the body produces abnormal white blood cells. This medicine is prescribed for adults and children who are newly diagnosed with CML, for patients experiencing side effects from previous treatments, or for those whose CML no longer responds to prior therapies, including imatinib.

Do not take Tasigna 150 mg if you are allergic to nilotinib or any other ingredients in the capsule. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have a history of heart problems (such as heart attack, abnormal heart rhythm, or chest pain), stroke, or poor blood circulation in the legs (claudication). Also inform your doctor if you have liver or pancreas disorders, or low levels of potassium or magnesium.

Tell your doctor about all other medications you are taking, especially cholesterol-lowering drugs, and disclose any underlying health conditions. If you have a history of hepatitis B, let your doctor know, as Tasigna may reactivate the virus. Avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice, and inform your doctor if you have lactose intolerance, since the capsule contains lactose.

During treatment, your doctor will perform regular blood tests to monitor liver and pancreas function, blood cell counts (WBC, RBC, platelets), electrolytes, sugar and fat levels, and heart function (QT interval) to ensure the medicine is tolerated safely.

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, discuss this with your doctor. Use effective contraception throughout the treatment period.
