Eltrombo 50mg Tablet is an anticoagulant medication classified as a thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist, containing the active ingredient Eltrombopag. It is used to increase low platelet counts resulting from primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or hepatitis C (HCV) infection. ITP is an autoimmune condition where the immune system destroys platelets, which are essential for blood clotting and blood vessel protection. When platelet levels are too low, there is a risk of severe bleeding and bruising. This medication is also prescribed for adults with severe aplastic anemia, a serious disorder where the bone marrow fails to produce enough new blood cells.

This medication should not be used by individuals with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to Eltrombopag or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions can vary from mild to severe and may include symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or difficulty breathing. Eltrombo 50mg Tablet is contraindicated for patients with severe liver impairment or active liver disease, as it may cause liver toxicity, indicated by elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin levels. Use with caution in these cases. Your healthcare provider will recommend regular eye examinations to monitor for cataracts and may also check for bleeding or damage around the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye.
