Eltrogis Capsule is an anticoagulant medication classified as a thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist, containing the active ingredient Eltrombopag. It is used to raise platelet levels in conditions such as primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and hepatitis C (HCV) infection. ITP is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks and destroys platelets, which are essential for blood clotting and blood vessel health. Low platelet counts can lead to serious bleeding and bruising. Additionally, this medication is prescribed for adults with severe aplastic anemia, a serious blood disorder where the bone marrow fails to produce enough new blood cells.

This medication should not be used by individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to Eltrombopag or its ingredients. Allergic reactions can vary from mild to severe and may include symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or difficulty breathing. Eltrogis Capsule is contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment or active liver disease, as it has the potential to cause liver toxicity. Signs of hepatotoxicity, such as elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin levels, should be monitored, and caution is advised when using this drug in patients with liver problems. Your healthcare provider will recommend regular eye examinations to check for cataracts and may also monitor for bleeding or damage around the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye.

If you stop taking this medication, your platelet count is likely to decrease again within several days. Regular monitoring of platelet levels will be conducted, and your doctor will discuss precautions to take. While very high platelet counts can increase the risk of blood clots, clot formation can also occur at normal or low platelet levels.
