Introduction to Dasanat 20mg Tablet

Dasanat 20 mg tablet contains dasatinib as its active ingredient. It is prescribed for adults and children older than one year who are diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). This medication is used for the treatment of newly diagnosed Philadelphia chromosome–positive (Ph+) CML in the chronic phase, as well as Ph+ Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in patients who have not responded well to other treatments.

Chronic Myeloid Leukemia is a type of blood cancer in which the body produces an excessive number of abnormal white blood cells due to a genetic change known as the Philadelphia chromosome. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, the most common blood cancer in children, occurs when immature white blood cells (lymphocytes) grow rapidly and survive longer than normal.

Common side effects of Dasanat 20 mg may include diarrhea, headache, cough, skin rash, nausea, fatigue, vomiting, muscle aches, weakness, decreased appetite, and fluctuations in blood pressure (either high or low). If these side effects persist or become troublesome, consult your doctor promptly.

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to dasatinib or any of its components. Before beginning treatment, inform your physician if you have liver or heart conditions, breathing problems, chest pain, ongoing cough, a history of hepatitis B infection, or any bleeding disorders. This medication may significantly lower platelet, white blood cell, or red blood cell counts, so routine blood tests are necessary to monitor your health during treatment.

Make sure your healthcare provider is aware of all the medicines you are taking, including prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, antacids, and herbal supplements. Dasanat 20 mg is not recommended for children under one year of age.

Children and adults with chronic myeloid leukemia.
Adults with Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL) with resistance to prior therapy.
