Introduction to Temodal 20mg Capsule

Temodal 20mg Capsule contains the active ingredient temozolomide and belongs to the class of antitumor medications. It is used to treat brain cancers such as glioblastoma multiforme in adults and malignant gliomas, including glioblastoma multiforme or anaplastic astrocytoma, in patients older than three years. These tumors are among the most aggressive brain cancers and generally have a low survival rate.

Treatment approach:

Anaplastic astrocytoma: Treated with Temodal 20mg Capsule or radiotherapy after a biopsy.

Glioblastoma multiforme: Managed with a combination of radiotherapy and Temodal 20mg Capsule, followed by ongoing maintenance therapy.

Possible side effects:
Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, constipation, hair loss, skin rashes, fatigue, frequent urination, vision or hearing changes, high blood sugar, muscle damage, pain in muscles and joints, memory loss, coordination difficulties, infections, sleep disturbances, and weight loss. Contact your doctor if any of these symptoms are persistent or bothersome.

Precautions:

Do not take Temodal 20mg Capsule if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients.

Inform your doctor if you have hepatitis B, anemia, low platelet or red/white blood cell counts, blood clotting issues, or liver or kidney problems.

Your physician will monitor your white blood cell and platelet counts regularly during treatment.

Avoid use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Both men and women should use effective contraception to prevent pregnancy or fathering a child while on this medication.

Treatment of refractory anaplastic astrocytoma

Temodal 20mg Capsule acts by inhibiting the production of genetic material (DNA and RNA) of the cancer cells, which results in preventing their cell growth and multiplication, thereby preventing cancer spread to other parts of the body.
