Introduction to Platify 75mg Tablet

Platify 75 mg Tablet is an anticoagulant medication containing eltrombopag, classified as a thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist. It is used to treat low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia) caused by primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or hepatitis C (HCV) infection. ITP is an autoimmune condition where the immune system destroys plateletsβ€”blood cells that help with clotting and protect blood vessel walls. Low platelet levels can lead to excessive bleeding and bruising. In adults, Platify 75 mg is also prescribed to manage low blood counts due to severe aplastic anemia, a disorder in which the bone marrow cannot produce enough new blood cells.

This medicine should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to eltrombopag or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions may range from mild to severe and include symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or difficulty breathing. Platify 75 mg is contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment or active liver disease, as it may cause liver toxicity, indicated by elevated liver enzymes or bilirubin. Patients with liver problems should use this medicine with caution.

Your doctor may recommend eye examinations, including checks for cataracts and retinal bleeding (bleeding in or around the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye), particularly if you do not undergo routine eye tests.

If you stop taking this medicine, your platelet count may drop again within a few days. Your doctor will monitor your blood platelet levels and adjust your dose to prevent excessively high platelet counts, which can increase the risk of blood clots. Blood clots can also occur even when platelet counts are normal or low.

Do not take this tablet with dairy products or calcium-rich drinks, as calcium can reduce its absorption. Use effective contraception during treatment, and inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant.

Platify 75 mg is not recommended for children under 1 year with ITP and is also not advised for patients under 18 with low platelet counts due to hepatitis C or severe aplastic anemia. Always inform your doctor about all other medications, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, or supplements, that you are currently taking or plan to take.

Inform your healthcare provider about your medicines, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications include antacid medicines, statins, ciclosporin, methotrexate, topotecan, lopinavir, or ritonavir, and vitamin and mineral supplements may interact with platify 75mg tablet and reduce effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.
