Introduction to Platify 25mg Tablet

Platify 25 mg Tablet is an anticoagulant medication containing the active ingredient eltrombopag. It belongs to the class of thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonists and is used to treat low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia) caused by conditions such as primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or hepatitis C (HCV) infection. ITP is an autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system destroys plateletsβ€”blood cells that help clot blood and protect blood vessel walls. Low platelet levels can lead to excessive bleeding and bruising. In adults, this tablet is also used to treat severe aplastic anemia, a serious blood disorder in which the bone marrow fails to produce enough new blood cells.

This medicine should not be used in individuals who are allergic to eltrombopag or any of the tablet’s components. Allergic reactions may range from mild to severe and can include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or difficulty breathing. Platify 25 mg is also contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment or active liver disease, as it can cause liver toxicity, shown by elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin. Patients with liver issues require close monitoring.

Your doctor may also recommend eye examinations, including screening for cataracts and bleeding in or around the retina (the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye), especially if you do not already have routine eye checks.

If you stop taking Platify 25 mg, your platelet count may drop within a few days. Your doctor will monitor your blood platelet levels and adjust your dose to reduce the risk of overly high platelet counts, which can increase the risk of blood clots. Clots can also occur even when platelet levels are normal or low.

Avoid taking this tablet with dairy products or calcium-rich drinks, as calcium can reduce its absorption. Use effective contraception during treatment, and inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant.

Platify 25 mg is not recommended for children under 1 year with ITP and is also not advised for patients under 18 with low platelet counts caused by hepatitis C or severe aplastic anemia. Always inform your doctor about any other medications, including over-the-counter drugs, supplements, or vitamins, that you are taking or plan to take.
