Glivec is also indicated for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph-positive ALL) and specific types of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), which are tumors originating in the digestive tract lining that may metastasize.
Furthermore, Glivec 100mg tablets are used to manage myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases (MDS/MPD), a group of blood disorders involving the uncontrolled proliferation of certain blood cells. It is also indicated for hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and/or chronic eosinophilic leukemia (CEL), blood conditions where specific cells (eosinophils) grow abnormally. Additionally, this medication is intended for the treatment of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), a cancer of the subcutaneous tissue characterized by abnormal cell growth. Glivec functions by suppressing the proliferation of these aberrant blood cells.
Do not take Glivec 100mg tablets if you have an allergy to imatinib or any other components of this medication. Prior to commencing treatment, it is essential to inform your physician if you have any kidney, heart, or liver issues, thyroid problems, or if your thyroid gland has been surgically removed.
