Introduction to Dacmed 200mg Injection

Dacmed 200 mg Injection contains dacarbazine as its active ingredient and is an antineoplastic (anti-cancer) medicine belonging to the alkylating agent class. It is used to treat metastatic malignant melanoma (a form of skin cancer) and Hodgkin’s disease, a cancer that affects the lymphatic system, which is part of the immune system.

Dacmed 200 mg Injection is often used in combination with other chemotherapy medicines, such as cisplatin for certain cancers, and in combination with temozolomide for the treatment of melanoma. Use of this medicine may be associated with an increased risk of certain types of skin cancer, including non-melanoma skin cancer. This medicine is contraindicated during pregnancy. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 6 months after completing therapy. It is not known whether dacarbazine passes into breast milk; therefore, breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment. Caution is advised in patients with existing liver or kidney impairment.

You should not receive live vaccines while being treated with Dacmed 200 mg Injection, as this medicine may weaken the immune system and increase the risk of serious infections. Consult your doctor for further guidance.

Dacmed 200 mg Injection may cause pain along the vein during administration. Inform your nurse immediately if you experience pain so the infusion site can be checked. The medicine may be administered more slowly or flushed with additional fluids to reduce discomfort. Treatment should not be initiated if white blood cell (leukocyte) counts are below the required levels; your doctor will monitor these values regularly through blood tests. Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to dacarbazine.

Before each dose, blood tests will be performed to ensure you have adequate blood cell counts to receive treatment. This medicine is usually administered once every three to four weeks. Inform your doctor about all medicines you are currently taking or have recently taken, including herbal products and dietary supplements, before starting treatment with Dacmed 200 mg Injection.
