Introduction to Cytotam 20mg Tablet

Cytotam 20 mg Tablet contains tamoxifen citrate as its active ingredient. It is used to treat and help prevent breast cancer. It is also prescribed for the treatment of female infertility caused by problems with ovulation (failure to produce or release eggs properly). Cancer is a condition in which cells grow and multiply in an uncontrolled and abnormal manner.

Cytotam 20 mg Tablet should not be used if you are pregnant, currently undergoing infertility treatment, taking medicines for blood clots, or if you have a history of blood clots with an unknown cause. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have uterine cancer or other uterine disorders, irregular menstrual periods, unusual vaginal bleeding, or if you have previously had a stroke. Effective contraception should be used during treatment and for at least 9 months after the final dose.

Uses of Cytotam 20mg Tablet

Cytotam 20mg Tablet is used to

Treat adults with metastatic estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer (cancer that has spread to other parts of the body)
Treat adults with early-stage estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer (after radiation and surgery for breast cancer)
Reduce the risk of getting breast cancer in (other breast in adults after treatment for breast cancer & in women with a high risk of getting breast cancer)
Treat infertility in women
Reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in women with DCIS (Ductal carcinoma in situ – cancer of the lining of milk ducts in the breast)

Therapeutic Effects of Cytotam 20mg Tablet

Cytotam 20mg Tablet competes with estrogen (sex hormone) for binding to the estrogen receptor, decreases the estrogen receptor-dependent growth in breast tissue, and slows down the growth of cancer cells.

Interaction of Cytotam 20mg Tablet with other drugs

Inform your doctor about any prescribed medications, over-the-counter medications, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products that you are taking or have taken before the treatment. Certain medications may interact with Cytotam 20mg tablet and decrease its effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.
