Introduction to Certican 0.5mg Tablet

Certican 0.5β€―mg Tablet is an antineoplastic drug in the class of mTOR kinase inhibitors, containing everolimus as its active ingredient. It is prescribed for advanced breast cancer, renal cell carcinoma, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, and subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (tumors in the brain ventricles).

During treatment, good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups are important, as this medication may cause mouth sores or ulcers. For subependymal giant cell astrocytoma, it is often used in combination with cyclophosphamide, an alkylating agent.

Before starting therapy, be aware that Certican increases the risk of bacterial and viral infections. Patients with a history of Hepatitis B have a higher risk of reinfection. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience fever, chills, cough, jaundice (yellowing of the skin), joint pain, or swelling.

You should limit sun and UV exposure by wearing protective clothing and using sunscreen, as this medication may raise the risk of skin cancers. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.

Substitute medications may include Everolimus or Sirolimus, but always consult your doctor before switching.

This medicine is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, or worsening cough.
