Introduction to Certican 0.25mg Tablet

Certican 0.25 mg Tablet is an antineoplastic medication belonging to the class of mTOR kinase inhibitors, with everolimus as its active ingredient. It is used to treat advanced breast cancer, renal cell carcinoma, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, and subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (tumors in the brain ventricles).

Maintaining good oral hygiene and attending regular dental check-ups is important during treatment, as this medicine can cause mouth sores or ulcers. For subependymal giant cell astrocytoma, it is often combined with cyclophosphamide, an alkylating agent.

Before starting treatment, note that Certican increases the risk of bacterial and viral infections. Patients with a history of Hepatitis B have a higher chance of reinfection. Inform your healthcare provider immediately if you experience fever, chills, cough, jaundice (yellowing of the skin), joint pain, or swelling.

You should limit sun and UV exposure by wearing protective clothing and using sunscreen frequently, as this medication may raise the risk of developing skin cancers. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice during treatment.

This medication is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years. Seek urgent medical attention if you develop shortness of breath, chest pain, or worsening cough.

During therapy, your doctor may monitor white blood cell counts, platelets, blood sugar, electrolytes, and kidney function to prevent serious complications, as Certican can potentially cause kidney problems.
