Celbopag 50mg Tablet is an anticoagulant medication classified as a thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist. It contains the active ingredient Eltrombopag. This medicine is used to manage low platelet counts associated with:

Primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP): an autoimmune condition in which the immune system destroys platelets, increasing the risk of bruising and serious bleeding.

Hepatitis C (HCV)–related thrombocytopenia.

Severe aplastic anemia in adults, a serious disorder where the bone marrow fails to produce sufficient blood cells.

Warnings and Precautions

Allergic reactions: Celbopag should not be used by individuals with a known allergy to Eltrombopag or any of its ingredients. Allergic symptoms may include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or breathing difficulties.

Liver disorders: This medicine is not recommended for patients with severe liver impairment or active liver disease, as it may cause liver toxicity, indicated by elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin levels. Regular liver function monitoring is required.

Eye monitoring: Your doctor may recommend eye examinations to check for cataracts and possible bleeding in or around the retina if routine eye tests are not already being done.

Monitoring and Use Instructions

If treatment is stopped, platelet levels may drop again within a few days. Your doctor will closely monitor your platelet count and advise on necessary precautions.

Excessively high platelet counts may increase the risk of blood clots, although clots can also occur even with normal or low platelet levels. Your doctor will adjust the dose to maintain safe platelet levels.

Do not take Celbopag with dairy products or calcium-containing drinks, as calcium can interfere with the absorption of the medicine.

Pregnancy, Children, and Drug Interactions

Use effective contraception during treatment. Inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant.

Celbopag is not recommended for children under 1 year of age with ITP, or for patients under 18 years with thrombocytopenia related to HCV or severe aplastic anemia.
