Azapharm 100 mg Injection is used to treat adults with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) who are not suitable candidates for stem cell transplantation.

In Myelodysplastic Syndrome, the bone marrow does not function properly, resulting in reduced production of healthy blood cells. Acute Myeloid Leukemia is a cancer of the bone marrow in which immature and abnormal blood cells are produced and released into the bloodstream, disrupting normal blood cell formation.

Uses of Azapharm 100mg Injection

Treatment of Acute Myeloid Leukemia with 20-30% blasts in patients who are not eligible for Haemopoietic stem cell transplant

Intermediate-2 and High-risk Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS)

Restores normal blood cell production: It helps the bone marrow produce healthier red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Slows disease progression: Azapharm reduces the growth and spread of abnormal cells in conditions like Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Improves bone marrow function: By correcting abnormal DNA changes in bone marrow cells, it helps improve overall marrow activity. Reduces transfusion dependence: Many patients experience a reduced need for blood transfusions over time. Controls cancer cell growth: It inhibits the multiplication of immature and defective blood cells, helping to manage leukemia.

It is prescribed for adults with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) who are not eligible for stem cell transplantation. How it works Azacitidine works by altering abnormal DNA activity in bone marrow cells. This helps slow or stop the growth of abnormal cells and allows healthier blood cells to develop. Administration Azapharm is supplied as a powder for injection and is reconstituted before use. It is given either subcutaneously (under the skin) or intravenously (into a vein) by a healthcare professional. Monitoring during treatment Frequent blood tests are required to monitor blood counts, as the medicine can lower red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, especially during early treatment cycles.
