Introduction to Alzic 4mg Injection

Alzic 4mg Injection contains the active ingredient zoledronic acid, which belongs to a class of medicines known as bisphosphonates. It is primarily used to lower high levels of calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia) in adult patients when this condition is caused by tumors. Certain tumors can increase the breakdown of bone tissue, leading to excessive release of calcium into the bloodstream. This condition is referred to as tumor-induced hypercalcemia (TIH).

Alzic 4mg Injection is also used to help prevent bone-related complications in adults with multiple myeloma or with bone metastases from solid tumors (cancer that has spread from its original site to the bones). It is given alongside standard cancer treatment to strengthen bones and reduce the risk of fractures or other bone problems.

In addition, this injection is prescribed to prevent or treat osteoporosis, a condition in which bones become weak and brittle. It is used in postmenopausal women, in men with osteoporosis, and in patients receiving long-term glucocorticoid (corticosteroid) therapy, which may lead to bone loss. It is also indicated for the treatment of Paget’s disease of bone, a disorder that causes bones to become soft, weak, misshapen, and more prone to fractures.

Precautions:
Do not use this injection if you are allergic to zoledronic acid, other bisphosphonates, or any of the ingredients in this medicine. It should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, existing bone disorders, or symptoms such as jaw pain, swelling, or numbness. This medication is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age.

Although Alzic 4mg Injection is used in patients with cancer, it is not a chemotherapy drug and does not directly treat or stop the spread of cancer. Instead, it helps manage bone-related conditions associated with cancer.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, nutritional and vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications like aminoglycosides, loop diuretics, and nephrotoxic drugs may interact with Alzic 4mg Injection and reduce its effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.
